Cultivated in the lavender fields of Provence, France and the coastal meadows of the Western Mediterranean for over 2,500 years, Lavandula angustifolia — Lavender — was used by ancient Romans to scent their baths and was documented by the Greek physician Dioscorides in the first century CE as a remedy for headaches, indigestion, and "afflictions of the mind."
Lavender is among the most universally loved and versatile herbs in the botanical world. As a nervine and anxiolytic, it is traditionally used to support relaxation, ease mild anxiety and nervous tension, promote restful sleep, and calm headaches — particularly those rooted in stress. Its volatile oils, dominated by linalool and linalyl acetate, have well-documented calming effects on the nervous system. Lavender also supports healthy digestion, particularly for stress-related bloating and cramping, and has gentle antimicrobial properties when used as a tea or rinse. In spiritual traditions across multiple cultures, lavender holds a revered place: used in sleep pillows, dream work, altar offerings, purification rituals, and as a plant of peace and clarity that invites love, healing, and protective energy into any space.
Lavender creates one of the most beloved calming tea blends when paired with our Lemon Balm, whose lemony brightness and nervous system support perfectly complement lavender's floral depth, and Rose Hips for Vitamin C, antioxidant richness, and a tart, fruity balance. Adding a small amount of our Peppermint brings cooling, clarifying freshness and completes a tea blend that soothes the mind, uplifts the spirit, and delights the palate.
Lavender is generally considered very safe. It may enhance the effects of sedative medications — use with caution alongside prescription sleep aids or anxiolytics. Avoid therapeutic doses during pregnancy. Some people are sensitive to the Lamiaceae (mint) family and may experience contact reactions with concentrated lavender. As always, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or taking medications.
