Revered in ancient Egypt for over 5,000 years — offered to the sun god Ra, woven into funeral garlands, and used in the embalming of pharaohs — Matricaria chamomilla, grown in the Nile Delta's rich soils, produces what is considered the finest chamomile in the world. Egyptian Chamomile's deeper color, more complex fragrance, and higher chamazulene content — the anti-inflammatory blue volatile oil that gives steam-distilled chamomile essential oil its signature indigo hue — distinguish it as a premium botanical.

Egyptian Chamomile contains one of the highest concentrations of chamazulene and bisabolol of any chamomile source — compounds that give it its profound anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and wound-healing properties. As a nervine and sleep herb, it works by binding to GABA receptors (the same receptors targeted by benzodiazepines) through its flavonoid apigenin, producing a gentle, non-addictive calming and sleep-promoting effect. It is extensively used for anxiety, insomnia, IBS, irritable bowel, menstrual cramps, acid reflux, and inflammatory skin conditions. One of the few herbs considered universally safe across all ages — from colicky infants to the elderly — chamomile has been called 'the physician's flower' for its ability to comfort virtually every kind of discomfort. In Egyptian and European spiritual traditions, chamomile's golden color and sun-like form made it a herb of light, good fortune, abundance, and protection from negative energy.

For the ultimate calming, sleep-supportive herbal blend, pair Egyptian Chamomile with our Lavender for additional nervine and anti-inflammatory support, our Lemon Balm for its uplifting, mood-stabilizing nervine and digestive action, and our Passionflower for deep anxiolytic and sleep-inducing support for the overactive, anxious mind.

Chamomile is extremely safe — one of the most studied herbs for long-term safety. Those with Asteraceae family allergies (ragweed, chrysanthemum) should use with awareness. Rare allergic reactions are possible. Those on blood-thinning medications should use in typical herbal amounts rather than highly concentrated extracts. As always, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or taking medications.

* Premium Nile Delta chamomile with the highest chamazulene and bisabolol content
* Binds GABA receptors via apigenin for gentle, non-addictive calming and sleep support
* Deeply anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic for IBS, cramps, and skin inflammation
* Safe for all ages — from colicky infants to the elderly
* Ancient Egyptian sacred herb — offered to Ra and used in royal burial ceremonies
* Associated with solar energy, good fortune, and protection in folk traditions worldwide

1. Measure 1–2 teaspoons of Egyptian Chamomile per 8 oz of water.
2. Pour boiling water over the flowers, cover, and steep for 5–10 minutes. Do not oversteep — prolonged steeping can make the tea bitter.
3. Strain and drink warm. A touch of honey complements the delicate apple-floral flavor.
4. For sleep: drink 1–2 cups 30–60 minutes before bedtime.
5. For digestive support: drink after meals for IBS, bloating, or acid reflux comfort.
6. Drink 1–4 cups daily as an everyday wellness and calming tea.

For the classic bedtime blend, combine Egyptian Chamomile with Lemon Balm and Lavender in equal parts. This trio has been used as a soothing evening ritual across European herbal traditions for centuries.
