Revered in India as the Village Pharmacy and the Divine Tree, Azadirachta indica - Neem - has been central to Ayurvedic medicine and Indian spiritual life for over 4,000 years. Every part of the Neem tree, from its bitter leaves to its bark, seeds, and oil, holds medicinal value, and Neem is documented in Sanskrit texts as one of the most important herbs in the entire Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia.
Neem Herb is one of the most powerfully cleansing and purifying plants in herbal medicine. Its intensely bitter compounds, including nimbin, nimbidin, and azadirachtin, give it extraordinary antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties that are used to support skin health, detoxify the blood, and maintain a healthy internal environment. Modern herbalists use Neem to support clear, healthy skin by addressing the underlying systemic factors behind breakouts and inflammation, to support healthy blood sugar balance, and to maintain oral and digestive health. Neem is also deeply significant in Hindu tradition: the goddess Durga is associated with Neem, and Neem leaves are used in temple offerings, purification rituals, and as protective garlands during festivals. Neem branches are used to drive away negative forces and to purify spaces during sacred ceremonies across South Asia.
Neem pairs well with our Turmeric for a powerful anti-inflammatory and skin-clarifying blend that targets systemic inflammation from two directions. Add our Tulsi (Holy Basil) to bring adaptogenic, immune-supportive energy to the formula, or blend with our Ginger Root to buffer Neem's intense bitterness and add warming digestive support.
Neem is extremely bitter and should be used in small amounts. It is contraindicated during pregnancy and for young children, as it may cause serious adverse effects. Not suitable for those trying to conceive. Those with autoimmune conditions should consult a practitioner before use. As always, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or taking medications.

1. Use a small amount due to Neem's intense bitterness. Start with 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon per cup.
2. Add to an infuser and pour 8 oz of hot water (190-200 degrees F) over the herb.
3. Steep for 5-7 minutes. Taste before deciding to drink straight or blend with other herbs.
4. Strain and drink. Combining with Ginger Root, Turmeric, or a small amount of honey significantly improves the flavor.
5. Drink 1 cup per day as part of a cleansing or skin-support protocol.
Neem can also be used as a topical rinse: steep a stronger infusion, allow to cool, and use as a facial wash or scalp rinse for skin and hair health.
