Lungwort belongs to the Boraginaceae family and contains small amounts of pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs). It should not be used daily for extended periods or in large amounts. Those with liver conditions should avoid Lungwort. Not recommended for children or during pregnancy. 1. Add 1 teaspoon of dried Lungwort to an infuser or tea strainer.
2. Pour 8 oz of hot water (190-200 degrees F) over the herb.
3. Steep for 7-10 minutes for a full extraction of its soothing compounds.
4. Strain and drink warm. Add honey to enhance the soothing effect on the throat.
5. Drink 1-2 cups per day during periods of respiratory discomfort. Avoid use for more than 4 weeks continuously.
